Superb Bird of Paradise- incredibly beautiful bird

Today few words about Superb Bird of Paradise. As you see not only its name is interesting. Just looking at the picture you can see that it is an amazing animal that looks like… hmm, like what? Any ideas?

You can meet that amazing bird in New Guinea’s rainforests. During the courtship display the male raises its long feathers behind the back of the head, shaping them into a sinister looking velvety black cape. The species has an unusually low population of females that is why the competition amongst males for mates is so high.

If you find it interesting, you can check on that video how that incredible transformation is happening.

So Do Not Go to New Guinea if you are afraid of scary looking birds!

Meteora, Greek’s treasure.

Summer is a perfect moment for holidays somewhere close to the see. When it is too hot you can always refresh your body in warm water. Greece is one of those places that will provide you a perfect resting time. But what to do once you will get bored of swimming and drinking cocktails?

Have you ever heard about Meteora? That place, close to Kalambaka town, is one of the largest and most important complexes of Eastern Orthodox monasteries in Greece. There are six monasteries which are built on natural sandstone rock pillars, at the northwestern edge of the Plain of Thessaly near the Pineios river and Pindus Mountains, in central Greece. Meteora in Greek language means “monasteries suspended in the air”.

Through hundreds of years that place was unreachable for people. In order to get to the top you had to enter in the network being drawn huge winch by remaining at the top of the monks. Nowadays it is much easier, because you can get there by stairs, carved into the twentieth century.

So Do Not Go There If You feel dizzy just thinking about high or simply, you hate to climb the stairs.

Yazd- Iran, city that you will love forever.

Do you know some places, where you are sure you want to go back? Places which are so calm that you really are resting during visit ? One of them is for sure Yazd. Place, where is really difficult to find a tourist and people that are dying to do “selfie” with anything that moves and doesn’t move.

Yazd is a city located in central Iran. It is one of the driest cities in Iran. It is surrounded by desert and its old town is mainly made of clay-sand bricks. As well it is one of the oldest cities in the world! It is dating back to the Sassanian Period (224-651 AD). What is the best about that city are the narrow, long streets where you can easily lose yourself. But this is a real charm of Yazd. Ohh and of course incredibly nice people! During all my travels I didn’t find more hospitable people in whole world!

So Do Not Go There If You don’t like heat and old, really old buildings and culture.

Mechelen, charming place.

I have lived in Brussels for 4 months, so that will explain why there are so many posts about Belgium. It is just such a nice country. So, today one more time about it. This time I would like to present you a small city called Mechelen.

It is located about 35 km away from Brussels. By train you will get there in about 30min. So when you leave the railway station it may looks ugly, because the main street is grey with ugly buildings, but once you reach the city center you will see how nice it is.

As well you should walk among the river Dijle that goes through the city.  The buildings there are really charming. In Mechelen you will find many old but restored houses. The main market is full of restaurants where you can try some traditional Belgian food.

My advice is to walk all around the city, and discover narrow streets where you can forget about all your problems.

So Do Not Go There If You don’t like old architecture and romantic scenery.

Museums in Brussels

Today I would like to mention about two great museums in Brussels. First is called Museum of Natural Sciences and second one is Musical Instruments Museum(MIM) . Unfortunately in both of them you will need to pay for the entrance, but what is great is the fact that every FIRST WEDNESDAY of the month since 1 PM they are for free. So if you are lucky enough, or you will plan well your visit, you can go into those places free of charge!!!!

Why they’re so nice? First one is full of animals including dinosaurs, and you can learn really many interesting things about them. Descriptions are in 4 languages (French, Flemish, German and English). The museum looks old from outside, but in reality is quite interactive.

Musical Instruments Museum is located in a gorgeous building that looks like taken from fairytale. Once you will get in, they will offer you a nice interactive tool, which allows you to listen to every instrument that is on the exhibition! It is really great idea, because you will not only see strange instruments, but you will be able to hear them, and that is something unique! During my visit there were as well some  live concerts that made my visit even more interesting!

On the top of the building (10th floor), is located a charming restaurant with a nice terrace from where you can adore spectacular view for all city! Really worth to see! The only bad thing about both of those museums is that they close at 5PM so you will have to rush, to see all exhibitions. I didn’t have time to see all of MIM.

Did you know that there are more free museums in Brussels? On that page you will see which one is always for free, and which one are on first Sundays or Wednesdays of the month. If you have any questions, do not hesitate to ask me. I will be glad to help. 😉

So Do Not Go There If You are not a big fan of music and animals. You can get easily bored then.

Frankfurt am Main

Today few words about the 5th biggest city in Germany and one of the most important financial metropolis in the world. It is home to the European Central Bank, Deutsche Bundesbank, Frankfurt Stock Exchange and several large commercial banks.

Frankfurt am Main! Ok, that will be enough about its statistics and now few words from my own experience. Frankfurt is a nice city, but unfortunately only in certain places. One of the main streets is full of drug-addict people, and people that just don’t seem to be really friendly. On the other hand we had a really nice cultural experience visiting for example (MUST SEE) the cinema museum. It is worth to see even for those that aren’t cinema freaks.

What disappointed me was the Main Square. It is really small and not as nice as in other German cities. What is worth to see is the spectacular view from top of the Cathedral tower.

To sum up, I guess you got used that all my posts are about beautiful places, but this time is different. Frankfurt is really strange and full of contradictions. You could imagine that in the city where are located main world banks should be a lot of money and that the city itself should be some kind of icon. Unfortunately, (In my opinion) it is not. Maybe it’s too big or maybe I didn’t spend there enough time… (3 days). Simply I didn’t fell in love with it. But who knows… Maybe you will. So what is your opinion about it? Please leave your comment!

This time I can honestly say Do Not Go There If You don’t like dirty streets, and feeling unsecure.

It is located in the northeastern part of Brazil in Maranhão state. Place in itself it is called the National Park of Lencois Maranhenses. It is best to go there during rainy season (July till end of September), because then you can admire many lagoons. Some of them have even fishes!

Angkor Wat.

Maybe some of you already heard, or saw that amazing place. It is located about 5,5km away from Siem Reap which is in Cambodia. So the place I am talking about is an important group of ancient structures. It is the southernmost of Angkor’s main sites.

Angkor Wat is the biggest and the most famous temple in whole Angkor complex. It was built for about 32-35 years. Angkor Wat was first a Hindu, then subsequently a Buddhist temple. What is interesting is the fact that it is the largest religious monument in the world. The temple was built by the Khmer King Suryavarman II in the early 12th century.

It is a good idea to take bottle of water there and something that will cover your head. It can be really hot there! It is also worth to calculate your time, and be there during sunset or sunrise. You should be prepare for a long walk! The area is really big!

So do you like ancient history, walking and admiring places? If your answer is no, Do Not Go There!!!
